Overview
$GRAIN is Demether's reward token, facilitating loyalty rewards for users.
Function
The $GRAIN token is engineered to fulfil the following roles within the Demether ecosystem:
establish the initial incentive mechanism to attract users and capital;
pave the way for the launch of a fully-fledged governance token with broader utilities in the future, including on-chain governance and rewards.
Together, the first two elements of the GRAIN token's utility create alignment between the interests of users with that of blockchain foundations. This is the backbone of the Demether model.
Utility
Mapping the intended impact of the token into utility we arrive at:
Emissions-based rewards. Users are rewarded for minting and retaining Demether's various yield bearing tokens as a key contribution to the Demether ecosystem through an emissions process.
Emissions-based rewards are a short term initiative aimed at identifying and tracking the combined impact of a user's engagement with the platform and not an ongoing method to permanently gamify or otherwise attract speculative activity on the platform.
How users can gain exposure to $GRAIN
Users can acquire $GRAIN in multiple ways:
Peer to peer / DEX Swap. Demether will NOT be seeding liquidity pools but given the nature of the tokens as OFT-20s will allow any users to permissionlessly transfer their tokens between users / wallets or form their own liquidity pools.
Receive yield boost emissions. Holding $demETH or $demSOL on an eligible target chain for a period of 7 days will result in a wallet becoming eligible to receive $GRAIN emissions.
Seamless interoperability
Finally, the token is intended to be seamlessly transferable between any chain ecosystems that Demether operates on using LayerZero technology. Tokens can be behave as those they are native to the underlying chain ecosystem based on LayerZero's chain abstraction token standard and bridging technology.
Supply and tokenomics
GRAIN token supply is uncapped but emitted on a schedule, distributed between chains and eligible wallets weighted by the amount of TVL on that chain and that individual wallet.
